Geol/GeoE Profile of Students
The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering typically has about 40-45 graduate students in its various programs. The M.S. in Geology and Geological Engineering has about 20 students, and the Ph.D. in Geology and Geological Engineering has about 12 students. About half of these M.S. and Ph.D. students specialize in Geology and half specialize in Geological Engineering. The Ph.D. program also includes some students specializing in paleontology. The M.S. in Paleontology typically has an enrollment of 12 students.
About 10 percent of the students are international. Most hold a B.S. or B.A degree in geology, geological engineering, earth sciences, biology/paleontology, or a related field.
