Nano Testimonials
I am 1st year Ph.D. student in the Nanoscience and Nanoengineering program. So, how did I end up here? Well, when I was 16 I read an article in Science magazine about carbon nanotubes and that is when I first became truly interested in nanoscience. However, I never thought that 11 years later I would be conducting research with nanotubes, getting a Ph.D., or have the opportunities that I have. I got my B.S. in Chemical Engineering here at the School of Mines and then worked as a process engineer (making injection molded parts). Well, after 2 years I woke up and realized I was missing out on the truly great parts of being interested in science. So I came back! Last year I was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for my proposal “Combustion Synthesis of Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Nanostructured Materials”. So, this year has been great and I am getting to do my own research ideas. I hope you’ll take the time to check out the Nanoscience and Nanoengineering program and the types of research that are being done on our campus. There are a lot of great opportunities!
