Message from the President

Dear Friends,
The School of Mines is dedicated to being a leader in 21st century education that reflects a belief in the role of engineers and scientists as crucial to the advancement of our society. We are pleased that you have chosen to be a vital part of the successful and highly recognized reputation that the School of Mines has earned over the past 120 years.
The School of Mines offers its students the programs and tools to help them succeed in today's competitive work place. Our distinguished and caring faculty, size of classes, and programs offered, give our students a leading edge that many larger institutions cannot provide. Students are given opportunities to participate in programs and activities which provide them with life skills, team building, and communication skills in addition to the excellent educational foundation provided in the classrooms at the School of Mines.
The administration and faculty at the School of Mines are continually investigating majors and programs to ensure that we meet the needs of our students. As a student, you can be assured that you will have access to the most current teaching practices and the latest equipment and laboratories. It also means that we can help you reach your life and career goals, whether they are in science or engineering, or in another professional field. We will help you build a strong educational foundation to find your place in life.
We look forward to helping you follow in the footsteps of our many successful alumni. Many of our alumni succeed because they have the experiences they need before they graduate. They are using their skills to make their communities, the nation, and the world, a better place. The School of Mines is doing that as well. We are pursuing new research projects that will create economic development opportunities and advance our knowledge of cutting edge technology.
If you see me on campus, please introduce yourself. I am eager to hear about your experiences as a School of Mines student. I also challenge you to join the many Mines alumni who serve as drivers for economic development, technology advancement, and societal betterment.
Sincerely,
Charles Ruch
President
