Thesis and Dissertation Instructions (PDF)
Thesis/Dissertation Preparation and Completion Process
1. Do the research and write the paper.
2. Defend. (Scheduling form available from Graduate Education office MI235.)
Your thesis/dissertation must be defended and approved by your committee by April 21st for spring 2008 diploma release or July 28th for summer 2008 diploma release, and must be in the graduate office by this date for this semester's graduation. (This date allows you enough time to run the remaining thesis/dissertation gauntlet -- format and grammar check, any corrections you may need to make and the final printing and binding.)
3. Make whatever corrections/revisions your committee requires.
4. Print thesis/dissertation on plain paper; print signature page on required archive paper; obtain all signatures except the Graduate Dean's signature.
5. Take thesis/dissertation (with signature page) to Business Services Office (O'Harra room 106) for format approval and pink sheet signature.
6. Deliver thesis (with evidence of format approval on pink sheet) to the Graduate Education office (MI 235). Allow yourself time to make corrections.
7. You will be contacted through your school email address when your thesis/dissertation has been proofed. You will be asked to pick it up in MI 235, make corrections, store on CD, and print on required archive paper.
8. Return the marked copy, the CD, and the final copy on archive paper to the Graduate Office (MI 235) for final review, approval, and the Graduate Dean's signature.
9. You will be notified by email when the Graduate Dean has signed the thesis, and you can pick it up.
10, Deliver the final, master copy to the Business Office in OH 106, pay for the printing and binding, and get Business Office official final signature on the pink sheet.
11. Return the pink sheet to the Graduate Office for your file.
12. When the thesis has been printed and bound, the Business Office will take care of distribution of all copies.
13. Please plan ahead. We must have the completed product and the signed pink sheet submitted to the Graduate Education office before your diploma will be released.
Congratulations!
